Ellington High school has asked me to do their Homecoming for the last 5 years or so. It has always been a good time, and never seems to disappoint. These kids every year have a great turn out and are extremely well behaved at the dance.
This year did not disappoint. The student council had only sold 80 tickets as of the Thursday before the event. However, Thursday and Friday they were able to sell another 300. The had a total of 380 kids. An amazing turn out.
To help sell tickets they gave each student who purchased a ticket a raffle ticket. They gave away $25 gift certificates to Red Robin, Shell, Hess, 99, Subway (which was the most popular), and Cold Stone Creamery. I had never heard of a school doing that before, but it was a great idea to try to get kids to buy tickets, and it worked like a charm.
It didn’t take them long to get going. They were really enjoying hearing the “Cupid Shuffle”, “The Wobble”, and few old classics like “Baby Got Back” and “Yea”.
The most requested song of the night was “Gas Pedal” by Sage The Gemini. I saved that for towards the end and they ate it up and went nuts. The students had so much energy at the end. I finished up the night with, “Don’t Drop That Thun Thun”, “Gas Pedal”, “Get Low”, “Shots” (edited of course since it is a school), and ended it out with “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore.
Every time I go to a school I am not sure what to expect, it’s always a new batch of students and advisers. For whatever reason Ellington always seems to be a great time. It’s a pleasure to perform for them! The students had a blast, and the faculty was a pleasure to work with! Thanks Ellington!
I didn’t take many photos at this one, but here’s a few.
