Do you offer a written contract?
Absolutely. Once we have met and your decision is made, TJ Productions will ask for your deposit to reserve your date. Once TJ Productions receives the deposit a contract will be sent out. This contract will also act as your receipt for your deposit.
Why are there no prices on your website?
TJ Productions considers every event to be different. So for that, prices vary. If you are interested in booking with TJ Productions, please contact us and we can set something up and get you a fair price for the event you are looking for.
Will you be the DJ at our event?
TJ Productions is a one man production. Occasionally depending on the size of the event, an assistant may come along to help out. DJ TJ (Thom Sliney) will be your DJ!
May we meet with you in person before we sign a contract?
Yes! TJ Productions feels that meeting in person is key. You can get a feel of what TJ Productions is all about and TJ Productions can get a more certain feel for what you are looking for.
How long will you hold our date for us?
TJ Productions will hold your date for you for one week after our meeting without a deposit. Once TJ Productions receives your deposit the date is yours.
Do you perform for more than one event in a day?
No. TJ Productions sets the date aside for you and no one else. There would be nothing worse than having a DJ show up who just came from another gig and is burnt out.
What makes you different from your competitors?
TJ Productions is different in the fact that you meet with the owner, you communicate with the owner, and you have the owner show up at your wedding that day. There is no subbing out DJ’s or assigning DJ’s to your event. Customization is another attribute that sets TJ Productions from the competitors. It’s your wedding done your way!
Have you played at our reception site before?
TJ Productions has played at hundreds of venues in the Hartford, Springfield, & Boston areas. However if your event happens to be at a venue that TJ Productions has not performed at, TJ Productions will attempt to scout the venue a few months before the event to ensure every thing is accounted for.
Do you act as the “emcee” and make all of the announcements?
Yes. Unless there is someone you want to make certain announcements at your event.
What if something happens to you and you can’t make it to the event?
This is covered in your contract. Should an emergency happen, TJ Productions has relationships with other DJ professionals to cover your event and provide you with entertainment you expect. It should be noted that in over 10 years of service TJ Productions has never had to “call out” of an event.
Will we meet again before the event?
In the case of weddings, we will meet in person two to three weeks prior to the wedding to go over all the details and make sure we are all on the same page. With other events, TJ Productions will be in contact with you at least 5 days before the event to confirm times, venue, ect. Also, to have you get in any last minute must play songs. For other events TJ Productions will also meet with you if need be.
Can we visit you at a performance?
Out of respect to the clients who have booked TJ Productions we ask that you do not. Simply put, if it was your wedding or event would you want a couple of strangers to sit in the back and just watch the DJ? However, you can come visit TJ Productions at Shaker Bowl in East Longmeadow, Ma every Friday night. Here you can get a good feel of how TJ Productions is on the microphone and with interacting with guests. Please keep in mind though this gig is different than any you may be booking through TJ Productions.
How do you keep your music collection up-to-date?
TJ Productions updates music once a week. TJ Productions subscribes to a professional and legal CD subscription service that provides the latest tracks for all types of music genres.
How involved can we be in selecting music for our event?
TJ Productions lets you have control of whatever you want played at your event. If you say, “No Lady Gaga!” no Lady Gaga will be played. If you say, “We want 13 Dave Matthews songs played during dinner!” TJ Productions will do just that. If you’re not sure TJ Productions can also help with suggestions.
When do we need to submit our music requests and event details?
For weddings, we will meet 2-3 weeks before the wedding to go over these items in person. For all other events, 1 week before the event is sufficient.
Do you take requests from our guests?
Yes. However, TJ Productions uses judgment in making the call on whether or not to play it. If everyone is having a blast out on the dance floor to 80’s music, now might not be the best time to play a slow song if someone requested it. It will be considered at the next slow set.
Can we submit a “Do Not Play” list?
Absolutely! It’s your event. Whatever you want goes.
When do you arrive to set up for our event?
TJ Productions arrives 2-1.5 hours early to set up to ensure everything will be set up for when your guests start to arrive.
What will you wear to our event?
It all depends on the event. If it is a formal event such as a prom or wedding, TJ Productions will be dressed in a suit or a tuxedo vest along with button down shirt and tie. For other events it does depend on what type of event it is. You can rest assured that TJ Productions will be professionally outfitted at your event!
How much of a deposit is required to secure our date?
This varies with every event. Feel free to get in contact with TJ Productions for more information.
Do you charge for set up and breakdown time?
No, your price is for set up time performance time and breakdown time. Also, meetings are included as well. We can meet as many times as you need to before your event.
What kind of equipment do you use?
Each event is different, but all of TJ Production’s equipment consists of high end brands, such as QSC, Shure, & Chauvet.
Do you bring backup equipment with you to the event?
Yes, TJ Productions brings back up equipment to all events.
